Third Graded Stakes Win for Salutos Amigos

On February 7, Salutos Amigos added the third graded stakes win to his resumSalutosAmigosToboggané when he dominated the Grade-3 Toboggan Stakes at Aqueduct in his typical come-from-behind style. “He’s just getting better and better,” explained co-owner and trainer David Jacobsen in an interview with bloodhorse.com. The five-year-old son of Salute the Sarge won four stakes (three graded) in his last five starts and increased his bankroll to $777,406.

Campaigned by a partnership of Jacobsen and Southern Equine Stables, the bay gelding carried co-topweight (123 lbs) in the Toboggan and was piloted by regular rider Irad Ortiz Jr. He too had nothing but praise for the professionalism of Salutos Amigos. “My horse always comes on in the end,” Ortiz told the bloodhorse.com. “I just had to hold him together, and he came flying.”
