Salutos Amigos Wins Mr. Prospector Stakes “Just For Fun”

Salutos-Amigos-Mr-P-StakesTo get a race under his belt after returning from a disappointing trip to Dubai (UAE), trainer David Jacobsen entered Salutos Amigos into the $75,000 Mr. Prospector Stakes on June 28. The 5-year-old gelding by Salute the Sarge was given a confident hand ride by Cornelio Velasquez and rallied to a 3-1/4 length victory in the 6 furlong contest. Owned by Jacobsen and Southern Equine Stable, Salutos Amigos relished the sloppy track at Monmouth Park and “won easily,  just for fun,” as one observer commented.

In an interview with the Paulick Report, Jacobsen was hopeful that this was the lead into a long and successful summer, which could see his bay superstar competing already next weekend in the Grade-2 Smile Sprint ($250,000) at Gulfstream Park, Florida.
