Salute the Sarge’s Top Runner Adds Another Stakes Win

SalutosAmigosGravesendAfter losing the whip early in the stretch of the $100,000 Gravesend Stakes at Aqueduct, jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. gave SALUTOS AMIGOS a confident hand ride to win the 6-furlong race by two-and-a-half lengths. The 4-year-old gelding by Salute the Sarge carried co-highweight of 124 lbs and got the job done in his signature come-from-behind style. “He was spectacular, as usual,” trainer and co-owner David Jacobson told the Blood-Horse. “It was a great performance, and a great ride by Irad.” Salutos Amigos has now bankrolled a total of $687,406.
