FORTY NINER’S Brilliant Grade-1-winning Grandson
A brilliant Grade-1 stakes winner in his own right, HAIMISH HY offers California breeders now a unique option to tap into the fantastic gene pool of FORTY NINER, his grand-sire and one of the most successful Sire-of-Sires worldwide. Standing his first season at stud, the excellent race horse and former Art Sherman-trainee won the 2010 Grade-1 Hollywood Derby and placed in the Grade-2 San Luis Obispo Stakes, the Grade-2 Jim Murray Handicap, and the Grade-3 El Camino Real Derby for total earnings of $360,988.
HAIMISH HY lives up to his name (haimish = familiar) as he presents a very familiar face to California breeders: During a campaign that was conducted exclusively in California and spanned four years, he competed in 13 stakes, ten of them graded, and was on the board in ten of his 19 career starts. Retired to present owner George Krikorian’s private farm in Kentucky, the now 9-year old dark bay or brown horse returns to the state of his impressive racing career to embark on his stallion career. His first foals will arrive in 2017.
HAIMISH HY will take up stud duty at E.A. Ranches to continue a sire line that also produced another California favorite in millionaire and Grade-2 Swaps Stakes winner TRES BORRACHOS, as well as several millionaires and track-record holders in South Korea, where Ecton Park is a leading sire.
HAIMISH HY is out of the Argentinian-foaled mare Tifonica (by Equalize), a stakes-placed winner of over $140,000 on the California Circuit herself. A half sister to Argentinian Group-1 winner Tifosi, she also produced a top class runner in the winning filly Agrija (by Scat Daddy), who is Grade-1-placed in the Russian Super Oaks, and the stakes-placed gelding Keno George (by Stormello).
