Salutos Amigos G1-placed, Sire Sold to Saudi Arabia

Salute The Sarge_1Trouble at the start of the Grade-1 Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont Park cost multiple Grade-3 stakes winner Salutos Amigos the win. The bay son of Salute the Sarge was squeezed back by three to four length between foes that each broke his way out of the gate. Yet powering down the stretch in his signature late run, he still managed to finish second by only a neck to Rock Fall. The $80,000 share of the purse punched the ticket to the Millionaires-Club for the five-year-old gelding, who now has bankrolled $1,069,906 from 32 starts with a 10-3-4 strike rate. Of his 21 starts in stakes races all but three were in graded stakes company. Prior to this year’s Vosburgh, he had won four Grade-3 races and placed twice in Grade-2 stakes.

Meanwhile, his sire Salute the Sarge (photo) has been relocated from E.A. Ranches after the conclusion of the 2015 breeding season and sold to interests in Saudi Arabia, where he will stand in 2016.
